Tupperware travels
Gael Black, Napier-Hastings chapter
My GGB recipe back story...
When we went to live in Hong Kong in 1976, I took no plastic storage boxes. This was a mistake.
However, someone soon organised a Tupperware party and box C40, a 12 inch square, 2 inch high white plastic box was purchased for New Zealand $10 equivalent. This box was used for bacon and egg pie for Junk trips. But more importantly, at the end of each school term, it was sent to the staff room of my daughters’ schools full of the Nicky or Paula Black’s Maternal Grandmother‘s Fudge Cake recipe. Note the ‘Paula Black 6S’ on the lid. The staff were thrilled and many of them asked for the recipe.
Then we went to Singapore in 1982 and the box came with us and the same thing happened- fudge cake for the teaching staff. Back to Hong Kong in 1984 with the box and repeat of the fudge cake offerings.By this time I had adopted the cat as my name tag signature.
Years later, the daughters married and went to live in the UK and the USA.When I visited the UK, an Edmonds Cookbook Fruit cake went to England in that box . AND a year later it went to San Francisco labelled ‘Ryan’ because it was a gluten-free fruit cake just for son-in-law.
This box is now back in New Zealand. When I do my GBB baking the fudge cake is stored in this now slightly battered cracked lid white tupperware box. until it goes into the white GBB box to be collected by the GBB person.
I just wish it could talk and tell me who the fudge cake has gone to.

My daughter’s paternal grandmother’s recipe from 1970. Enjoy
