On Saturday 18th July, our Whanganui Good Bitches took over the Whanganui Winter Market as the official charity partners of the event.

Led by Head Bitch Tania Taylor, the committee worked together for months to plan their presence on the big day.

It involved a lot of organisation, logistics, late nights and even a volunteer interrupting her holiday in Christchurch to pick up merch to sell on the day, but it was all worth it. 

“It was an outstanding success,” Tania says. “A fantastic opportunity to raise both funds and awareness for GBB.”

The event was open to all in return for a gold coin donation to GBB, so our volunteers got busy with their buckets to raise some much-needed funds. 

It wasn’t just GBB volunteers with buckets in hand - representatives from charities and organisations supported by GBB baking joined in, helping to raise money and talked to the public about the impact GBB has on their mahi.

“Their presence highlighted the heart of our organisation and the real difference GBB makes within our community,” Tania says. 

The event wouldn’t have been possible without the many volunteers who helped with planning, baking, decorating, setting up, selling merchandise, running raffles, promoting GBB and supporting the event on the day. 

“Their generosity, passion and commitment were key factors in our success,” Tania says. 

And what a success it was! Volunteers raised $5,605 through gold coin entry, raffle tickets and GBB merchandise. 

They distributed 300 flyers, gave away 300 biscuits, registered 10 new volunteers and spread the word to the community about the special role GBB plays in helping people having a tough time feel cared for and connected. They also made 130 cupcakes to give as thanks to the wonderful stallholders who donated gifts to give away as raffle prizes. 

Tania says the event was an incredible success.

“It was a true reflection of what can be achieved when people come together behind a shared purpose, and everyone involved should be incredibly proud of what was accomplished.”
